Elena returns to Naples to find Lila has made a romantic connection with Stefano, despite the looming presence of Marcello. Stefano offers to expand the shoe business and the Cerullos agree. Stefano asks Fernando if he can marry Lila, and Fernando defers to his daughter who says, "yes." Lila breaks the news to Marcello over ice cream, and Marcello threatens to kill them both.
As Lila embraces a more glamorous life at Stefano's side, Elena warns her about the rumors of her sexual promiscuity around the neighborhood.
Later, in hopes of keeping up with her friend, Elena encourages Antonio's advances. Stepping away from her babysitting job at the beach, Elena tells Antonio to follow her into the changing room and they make out.
When Elena and Antonio return, Melina wanders through the plaza, saying Donato has come back for her. As Antonio guides his mother home, Donato stops Elena on the street and tells her he can't live without her. Elena agrees to meet him later, but brings Antonio, and they tell Donato to stay away from the neighborhood.
